What we check, and what we don't

Wisebit runs fourteen compatibility checks. Each compares two specific numbers or names from the parts you choose. A check runs only after both required parts are selected.

Two kinds of result

Blocks the build

The parts cannot physically work together. A build with any such problem fails the compatibility check.

Warning only

The build works, but it will not reach maximum performance.

All fourteen checks

Nine checks block the build, three only warn, and two can do either.

Will the processor work with the motherboard?

We compare the processor socket with the motherboard socket. If they differ, the parts will not physically connect. We also check whether the processor supports the selected memory type.

Will the graphics card and other parts fit the case?

We compare the graphics card length, motherboard size, cooler height or radiator size, and power supply form factor with the case dimensions and supported formats.

Is the power supply enough?

We compare the power supply wattage with the build's estimated power draw. Too little power blocks the build. If the supply covers the draw but falls below the graphics card manufacturer's recommendation, we warn that headroom is tight.

Will the RAM work?

We check whether the motherboard and processor support the RAM type. Memory faster than the motherboard supports will still work, but at the motherboard's supported speed.

Are there enough slots?

We compare the number of M.2 drives with the motherboard's M.2 slots, and the number of fans with the case's mounting positions.

Will the processor and graphics card work well together?

We compare their performance tiers. A large difference may create a bottleneck. We also compare the graphics card's memory with cards of similar performance.

What we don't check

The tool checks only the data listed above. It does not judge anything for which we lack a defensible number or catalogue data.

Airflow
We do not check whether a case can remove the heat produced by the build. The case checks only confirm that parts fit by length, height, and form factor.
Live prices and stock
We do not track stock or update prices automatically. Price ranges are based on real prices checked by hand. They are a guide, not a quote. There are no shop names, logos, or buy links.
Parts you already own
Checks work only with parts in our catalogue. If you are upgrading an older PC, its existing parts may not be included.
